Our Story

Why I'm building TapIn

Friend,

Four years ago, I was hosting a dinner in Miami for founders and entrepreneurs. The night was everything I’d hoped for. Good food, better conversation, the kind of room where everyone leaves knowing someone new worth knowing.

And then it was time to exchange contact details. That’s where it fell apart.

As people started to stand up and move around, everyone wanted to connect at once. We were trying to grab a photo before anyone left, and right in the middle of it the phones came out. For the next thirty minutes it was chaos. Instagram handles, LinkedIn profiles, phone numbers, business cards passed around the table. Half of it was lost before people even reached the door.

The next morning, my inbox told the rest of the story. “Can you send me so-and-so’s number?” “Do you have that founder’s Instagram?” “I connected with someone great but I lost their card.” I had become the human address book for a room I’d spent weeks bringing together.

That’s when it hit me. There has to be a better way.

My mission was simple. Take everything that happens at an event built to connect people, and reduce it to one tap. One tap to save everyone’s contact details. One tap to see the people you never got the chance to talk to, so “I wish I’d met them” turns into an introduction. And one place that quietly captures everyone who was in the room, so months later, when you can’t quite remember where you met someone, it’s still there.

That was the beginning of TapIn.

Since then, I’ve been working tirelessly to bring that experience to the hosts and attendees who create these rooms, so the connections made inside them actually last, and turn into real opportunities.

Thank you for being part of it.
