The hardest part of community isn’t the night itself, it’s the 364 days after it. A great event creates a burst of energy and a room full of new relationships. The question is whether any of it survives until the next one.
A guest list is a door policy; a directory is a network. When everyone who attends is in a shared, searchable list they each own, the connections don’t depend on who happened to bump into whom. People can find each other later, which is when most real collaboration actually happens.
Momentum dies in the gap between “great to meet you” and the first real conversation. Give people their connections in a form they’ll actually use, saved contacts, a list they can revisit, and you remove the friction that kills follow-through.
“The event is the spark. The directory is what keeps the fire going.”
Recurring rooms compound. Regulars want to find the people they met last time, newcomers want to find the regulars, and every event adds to the same growing network instead of starting from zero. That continuity is what turns a series of events into a community.
Platforms come and go, but your list is yours. Export it, keep it, and build on it. The community you’re creating shouldn’t be locked inside someone else’s app, and with TapIn, it isn’t.
Until next time,
